By definition, caustics refer to light's journey from the light source, bouncing off or bending at the specular surface (be it once or multiple times), then hitting a diffuse surface, and finally contributing to what a camera or your eyes capture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si nous devions esquisser cela sur un diagramme d'analyse de chemin optique, cela ressemblerait \u00e0 ceci :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/usa-official.d5cdn.com\/wp-content\/usa-website-assets\/ebdfdffa44aa0bc8bb6172d1\/64c8bb7ea7be42cafaae9ac9_ce0f1a7a-a2e8-4383-9b32-7556dc2587cc.avif\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le rayon lumineux frappe le lapin en verre deux fois, r\u00e9fracte, puis frappe la table diffuse avant de finalement parvenir \u00e0 l'appareil photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quand les caustiques apparaissent-ils ?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sur la base de la d\u00e9finition des caustiques, nous pouvons la r\u00e9sumer en trois \u00e9l\u00e9ments cl\u00e9s qui donnent naissance \u00e0 ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Une source lumineuse qui \u00e9met les rayons lumineux (pour \u00eatre plus pr\u00e9cis, des photons caustiques);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Une surface sp\u00e9culaire qui r\u00e9fl\u00e9chit ou r\u00e9fracte la lumi\u00e8re (comme le verre, le m\u00e9tal, etc.) ;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Une surface diffuse qui pr\u00e9sente des caustiques.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here's a fun fact: in real life, any light can cause caustics. But in rendering engines, caustics are simulated by having the light source emit what we call 'caustic photons'.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some \"Stereotypes\" about Caustics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depuis longtemps, la grande majorit\u00e9 des utilisateurs de logiciels de rendu avaient deux grands st\u00e9r\u00e9otypes concernant le rendu des caustiques :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Les principes des caustiques sont abstraits et n\u00e9cessitent d'apprendre \u00e0 d\u00e9finir une s\u00e9rie de param\u00e8tres.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caustics are an \"advanced\" effect, thus requiring a long time to render it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These two issues do exist. Caustics are all about how light sources and materials work together. To get caustics right, you have to fine-tune the light parameters, figure out the translucency of the material, and get the sampling parameters spot on. If anything goes wrong here, caustics won't look good. Moreover, it does take some time for caustics to settle into a noise-free result, and all rendering software are working hard to speed things up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">D5 <strong>Solution de caustiques en temps r\u00e9el<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Points forts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D5 Render introduit la fonctionnalit\u00e9 de rendu des caustiques dans sa version 2.5. Pour rem\u00e9dier aux difficult\u00e9s li\u00e9es aux caustiques, D5 Render propose les deux solutions phares suivantes :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Param\u00e8tres simplifi\u00e9s<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D5 a transform\u00e9 ces param\u00e8tres de caustiques complexes en <strong>commutateurs faciles<\/strong> dans les panneaux lumi\u00e8re et mat\u00e9riaux. Donc, <strong>en deux clics, vous pouvez obtenir un bel effet de r\u00e9fraction<\/strong> . No more fiddling with parameters - it's all preset and ready to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In D5, four basic light sources (point light, spotlight, strip light and rect light) and Sunlight (Geo Sky, HDRI-Sun) can all emit caustics. The \"custom\" material can present reflective caustics, while \"water\" and \"transparent\" materials can handle both reflective and refractive caustics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rendu en temps r\u00e9el<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D5 Render's caustics feature is now real-time. That means the feedback between light and material is super clear and fast. No more waiting around - you see the changes as they happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Remarque :<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Dans le rendu en temps r\u00e9el, nous r\u00e9duisons un peu la pr\u00e9cision des caustiques pour am\u00e9liorer les performances.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Mais lorsqu'il s'agit de produire des images ou des vid\u00e9os, la pr\u00e9cision sera encore am\u00e9lior\u00e9e, n\u00e9cessitant plus de m\u00e9moire.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dans les coulisses<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En gros, D5 g\u00e9n\u00e8re des caustiques en temps r\u00e9el de la mani\u00e8re suivante :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tout d'abord, il \u00e9met des photons \u00e0 partir d'une source lumineuse et les laisse se propager, en les faisant r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir et se r\u00e9fracter. Il enregistre ensuite leur position et leur couleur dans l'espace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ensuite, en utilisant les informations de position et de couleur de ces photons, il effectue des calculs de diffusion pour d\u00e9terminer l'effet des caustiques dans l'espace \u00e9cran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Puis, il r\u00e9duit le bruit temporel et spatial dans l'effet de r\u00e9fraction, avant de le superposer finalement \u00e0 l'image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Comment cr\u00e9er des caustiques dans D5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prenez cette sc\u00e8ne comme exemple :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/usa-official.d5cdn.com\/wp-content\/usa-website-assets\/ebdfdffa44aa0bc8bb6172d1\/64c8be09d30337f00c1bf657_ezgif-5-8f8713f65c.gif\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La lampe BE WATER est fabriqu\u00e9e dans un mod\u00e8le de tube en verre avec une surface in\u00e9gale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Note : vous pouvez aussi cr\u00e9er un aspect irr\u00e9gulier avec une carte normale qui affecte \u00e9galement les caustiques.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To rotate the glass tube, you can set a keyframe animation for it in D5's video mode, or create one in DCC software and import it into D5 as an .abc file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, place some light sources under the rotating glass tube and turn on their Caustics switch.
